Oscar Sherer State Park
Playing catch up is kinda fun!
In April, we spent 7 nights at Oscar Sherer State Park. I had camped here once, with a friend about 8 years ago. We camped here in a pop-up. At the time, I didn't really like it or the nearby beaches. Remember though, this was early on in the camping experience and I had only ever been exposed to Ft. Wilderness. So coming from Ft. Wilderness to Oscar Sherer was a big difference!
Now fast forward 8 years and I'm ready to try it again. I actually booked Oscar Sherer when we still had our Passport. Thankfully I had chose a site the Open Range would fit in.
We had a pull through paved site. It was decent, nothing spectacular but was nice for the week. We enjoyed the bike riding and really liked the Friendship Trail that had an entrance at the rear of the park. I was still recovering from a horrible case of bronchitius so my bike riding was short and sweet. I would love to go back and spend some time on the trail just riding. Our first ride out on Sunday afternoon, we saw a bob cat cross the path!
This time around I enjoyed the beaches much better as well. We loved Nokomis, the Jetty Park beach, Caspersen Beach and the Venice Dog Beach. All were wonderful. We collected lots of shark teeth at Caspersen Beach! The Venice Dog Beach was great! It was a lot nicer than even Ft. Desoto's dog beach!
We also took our canoe and rowed up the river and out into the inter coastal. It was a nice row. We rented a canoe on Saturday for $10. We couldn't leave the state park with the rental but rowed as far up and back as we could on the river. It was very enjoyable.
Looks like my hubby and I will be going there in November for our anniversary. It is a super great location for the beaches and we want to do some paddle boarding and kayaking so it is a great place to park the RV and stay. I look forward to going back!

Delena took this picture. It was re-shared by Fox 13's Paul Dellagtto.
I made this custom monogram for our Open Range slide.
